Los Angeles born and raised, Locke designs, dyes, and prints garments by hand.Though influenced by rich dyeing traditions like Japanese Shibori, Indonesian Batik and American Tie Dye, his art prioritizes novelty. "Show me something I've never seen before" is a personal mantra and as a result his art eschews the tropes of at-home dyes and feels unique. Everything is done by hand, including his screen prints, the aesthetics of which attempt to elevate hidden or forgotten aesthetics. Pulling from 90's Japanese erotica, 60's and 70's American horror, late 80's zine culture, and liminal spaces, his garments explore the interplay of public image and private ego.
