My name is Linda Ravenswood, and I am a native of Los Feliz, California. I’m generally known for poetry and performance art. I was shortlisted for poet laureate of Los Angeles in 2017. Sometimes I do typewriter installation poetry for passersby – I’ve worked for Google, the Broad Theatre, the Hammer Museum, the Santa Monica museum of art, Royce hall and the Center for the art of performance, the Los Angeles county department of cultural affairs and many other organizations including libraries and festivals. I’d love to provide this service to folks at the art walk. I bring a small table and several vintage typewriter’s, usually ones that are between 70 and 100 years old. They are in excellent working condition, and I allow the public to use several of them, and I explain about typewriters and the continuing art of creating with them – I also do poetry on the spot, based on someone’s theme, word, wish, or idea. It’s a really great way of engaging the public.
